Don’t have time to go through the numeruous websites, blogs & videos on Pubcon? Since we have already done that, here is the juice of Pubcon for all you the lazy researchers:
- Starting a Social Media Campaign:
Take time to research the target networks you are going to market yourself in. Spend time on the network to establish raport. After establishing rapport do the following :
- Look for different angles
- Make catch content titles, top 10 lists like this one work good on social networks.
- No long articles
- Include videos
- Be the first to break a story
- Tailor linkbait to each individual site. Don’t submit the same thing to Digg that you would to StumbleUpon.
- Use buttons and widgets to encourage voting (without going overboard); minimize the ads on targeted pages, at least temporarily – the incoming links you’ll get are far more valuable than a few AdSense clicks.
- Monetizing SMM – Follow the CPM model on site
- Landing pages need to hold content that makes traffic stay
- Keep your viral marketing relevant for your site.
- Make it easy for visitors to see what your site has to offer.
- Provide multiple links to other pages on your site.
- Think about what your goals are and funnel users into a conversion path.
- SMM is more successful for:
- Products (physical or virtual) generally do better than services.
- Consumer goods almost always do better than B2B products.
- Impulse purchase.
- Low or “door buster” prices.
- Technology related items.
