Google has come up with a new idea in its Adwords ads, wherein it will be now possible to include associated images in a normal PPC ad. So far, the online marketing companies have been using the Google’s Content Network to run image based or banner PPC ads. With this new development, the PPC ads being displayed on Search Engine Result Pages will now display associated images. Earlier, Google had implemented video ads in Adwords several times. It is only that, this time, Google is experimenting with a new form.

To initiate this new technique, Google has already started some Adwords ads with associated images. These images can be viewed through a “Plus Box”, indicated by a plus symbol just under the usual Adwords ad title and description related to the word or phrase you have put for search. The plus symbol is accompanied by the words, “show products from”. On clicking the plus symbol, you will get all product listings related to the search word. Each product listing will display an associated image.

The images in Adwords, although an attractive feature, will consume a large space. If you click on any one of the product results to open it up, you will find that a single ad accompanied with an associated image is taking up the whole page. In other words, the entire visible part of the page will be consumed with a single ad.

There is one more variation to this concept of images in Adwords. The ad is also displayed on the right hand side. This is possible by pushing down other ads on the right hand side. Such an implementation may sound a better option for many, as it does not change the layout of the natural or free results. So, if you are looking for sponsored ads, this can be a great opportunity to advertise your brand or product using an associated image. However, there is another side of the whole story. The ad on the right hand side of the page, while pushing down other sponsored ads, may shift them on to the subsequent pages. This means, it is the time to gear yourself up for even more fierce competition in terms of bidding for keywords. The advertisers in order to retain their ads on the first page of the search results will start bidding higher for the relevant keywords. For them, even when their ads are opened and viewed by the online visitors will not make any difference. They will try to place their ad along with the relevant image on the first page itself, so that there is no chance of their ad being pushed down to the subsequent page.

The online marketers need to keep an eye on these latest trends being introduced by Google. The day is not far away when you may witness Google’s adventure with multimedia for search ads.

Google announces its new algorithm for Flash

Google has teamed up with Adobe to come up with a new algorithm for flash. This new algorithm will enable the Googlebot to index the textual content in SWF files of all kinds along with URLs embedded in Flash. This is indeed a great development, as till date, it has been able to crawl only the (X) HTML architectures without being able to access any text content and URLs in flash. With this new capability, Google can further strengthen its position as the leader in search engines.

The new capability of Google to handle, crawl and index text content in Flash has added a new dimension to its overall service. Google has made use of the Adobe’s new searchable SWF Library to enhance the effectiveness of its new algorithm. However, there is still a lot that remains to be done on this front. As for the time being, this capability is limited to SWF files of all kinds, which include Flash “gadgets” such as buttons or menus, self-contained Flash websites, and everything in between.

According to Ron Adler and Janis Stipins, the software engineers at Google, “If your website contains Flash, the textual content in your Flash files can be used when Google generates a snippet for your website. Also, the words that appear in your Flash files can be used to match query terms in Google searches.” This is however, only one aspect of the story. Google’s new algorithm is also capable of discovering URLs that appear in Flash files, and feeding them into their crawling pipeline. This means that Google can now crawl more of your website. And all this can be done without requiring any special action on the part of the webmasters and web designers. All that is required is only Flash content in your website.

Google’s new algorithm for Flash is limited to only textual content. As a result, if your Flash files include only images or videos (FLV files), Google will not be able to recognise any of such pages. Also, the text that may appear in those images or videos will not get indexed by Google. As this new algorithm targets only text in Flash files, it will not be able to generate any anchor text for Flash buttons which have some URL, but no associated text. As said by Ron Adler and Janis Stipins, “If you prefer Google to ignore your less informative content, such as a “copyright” or “loading” message, consider replacing the text with an image, which will make it effectively invisible to us.”

The new Flash algorithm of Google suffers from a few technical limitations. First, a Flash file may not get indexed by Googlebot if it has been loaded via JavaScript. This is because Googlebot does not execute some types of JavaScript. The second limitation is that this new algorithm does not attach content from external resources that are loaded by your Flash files. Yet another limitation is the inability of the algorithm to index Flash content written in bi-directional languages, such as Hebrew or Arabic. However, all these limitations are only for the time being and are likely to get resolved soon.

googlesearchGoogle has launched a new keyword tool for all who have been looking for something beyond the keyword tool currently under AdWords. Named as the “Search-based Keyword Tool”, this new tool is based on the actual Google queries. With this new tool, you can now find highly relevant keywords and landing page ideas specific to your website. In simple words, you can now get keywords that are highly specific to your website. This is where it scores above the keyword tool available under AdWords.

The most important feature of this new Search-based Keyword Tool is that it generates only those keywords which are not being currently used in your AdWords Account. This means, by using this tool, you are going to take the benefits of additional advertising opportunities. This is because, there may be many relevant keywords that you might have missed out during your current AdWords campaign. This new tool will help you identify those missed opportunities and accordingly, attract your target customers based on them.

The “Search-based Keyword Tool” follows a rational approach to generate relevant keywords for the success of your Internet marketing. It first, goes through your pages and then identifies keywords that potential online customers usually search on to find products and services identical to those offered by your website. Once you have found such keywords, you can use them on your landing pages to attract your target customers. This approach is in contrast to what you have been using until now with the help of the keyword tool under AdWords. Under AdWords, although you may get several keywords, but you may always remain confused regarding which keyword should be used on which landing page. This confusion can be avoided in case of the “Search-based Keyword Tool”.

Even if you do not have an AdWords account, you can use this “Search-based Keyword Tool”. Another advantage of this new tool is that it generates keywords in categories. By clicking on any category, you can view all the sub-categories, thus reaching the most relevant keywords specific to your website. Apart from giving the category information for each keyword, this new tool also provides other essential information such as suggested bid that may place the ad in the top three ranks of a search result page as well as ad/search share. Like in AdWords, here also you get the opportunity to browse through all keywords, across all categories. The data available provided in this new tool is updated every few weeks. This ensures you to find the keywords that have been most recently searched for.Â

There are however, two constraints that the “Search-based Keyword Tool” is currently facing. First, it is available in beta, and hence, there are not many features or functionality attached to it. Second, this new tool is currently available to the advertisers in the US and UK only. However, in the near future, you can expect this new tool with improved features, including additional languages. Google is also working with the objective of making this tool available in more countries. The day is not far away when the newly launched “Search-based Keyword Tool” will become a widely accepted trend worldwide.

20th Nov, 2008 is a day to remember as Google launched a highly user-friendly and interactive system for all its users. Named as “SearchWiki”, this new system will now allow you to get personal with Google search results.

Processing more than 60% of the search requests made around the world, Google introduced this new system to allow its users customise Google search results. This however, does not mean that there will be changes or any kind of revision in Google’s closely guarded algorithms for ranking websites. The formula for ranking websites will remain unchanged. It is only that with this new system, Google search results will become relevant to every individual user.

On the day of the launch of “SearchWiki”, Marissa Mayer who oversees Google’s search products says, “For now, Google simple wants to make specific set of results more useful to each individual that comes to its search engines. She also says, “It should make the search results more dynamic”.

Available only to signed-in Google users, “SearchWiki” will lead to a series of buttons below the links on the search result pages. These buttons will allow you to place your favourite websites on the top, while deleting the bad links or putting them at the bottom of the page. To be more specific, an arrow pointing upwards below a link, if clicked, will move that particular link to a higher rank. This new rank as assigned by you, will get displayed the next time you log on to Google for the same search. Similarly, the links removed by you by clicking on ‘X’ will not feature in your next search on the same subject. This is however, only one aspect of the story. This is because “SearchWiki” has been designed to offer you even more customisation options. For instance, you can now add a result (link) if it does not appear in the search result. This make the search results more relevant to you the next time you do the same search. That is not all. If you want to make some comments on particular search results for your future reference, this is also allowed under this new arrangement.

Although, “SearchWiki” has been introduced to meet the search objectives of the users on an individual level, you have the opportunity to share your insights with other searchers. By simply clicking on the “See all notes for this SearchWiki link”, you get a chance to see how other searchers have edited the search results. Your modifications can also be viewed by the other signed-in Google users.

It should always be remembered that every modification made by you will be recorded only in your Google account. This way, changes made by you will affect only your search results, and not of others. For your convenience, Google has also made an arrangement wherein your username will appear on the upper right-hand side of the page, every time, you have signed in.

For online marketing firms, “SearchWiki” may become an important issue for discussion. This is because, with this new system, Google users will have a say in deciding the ranks of the websites. Also, the frequency of search by an individual user on the same keyword will now be better known.

One thing that has come out of the whole situation is that “SearchWiki” is no less than a revolutionary step, capable of changing the entire face of online marketing.

As the economy of almost all the countries is facing financial crises, business owners are finding it difficult to survive. Search engine marketing can be of great help to those who wish to improve their search engine rankings and thereby get huge traffic to their websites. But, before you decide to go for online marketing services, understand how most search engines rank your website.

Google is the most popular search engine. More than two-thirds of the search is done through it. So, as a website owner, you must try to fulfill most of its criterion to rank higher on Google. While the algorithm that Google uses to rank websites is based on many factors, the most important ones are page rank, links, page titles and keyword density. Every website is given a page rank (pr) number ranking from Zero to ten. Page rank is calculated using a complex formula but you can increase the page rank of your website by getting links from other websites having high pr and restricting the number of links that go out to other websites. But, it is the quality and not the quantity of the links that matters. You must be having links with various sites rather than just one type of sites. The text of the links is equally important. Using same keywords in all the links can spoil your ranking. Make sure that the link is relevant and comes from another websites that have same content/topic as yours.

Other important things that Google looks for in order to rank your website are titles and keyword density. Your web page must have titles with relevant keywords. You must pay special attention to keyword density. If it is less, it will not appear higher in search engine results. At the same time, very high keyword density is identified as a spam by Google and it is harmful for a site’s ranking. It is better to keep main keyword density lower and use related keywords instead.

You can find many SEO companies that promise to improve your search engine rankings by following unethical means. If you are looking for reliable and reputed online marketing company, Mosaic ITES Services can provide you best services to improve your website ranking and generate larger traffic to it.

In today’s e-age, the Internet has given way to carry out many activities easily, which earlier consumed a lot of time. With the introduction of a variety of social networking websites, the world has seen yet another way to link, chat, discuss and share with utmost convenience. However, this is not all; for even the advertisers have jumped in the social networking bandwagon, and are all for applying the concept of B2B marketing with these social networking websites, such as Facebook, MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, OpenSocial, Gorooze and many others.

According to the recent report published by the eMarketer, in the year 2008, the B2B marketers will spend approximately $40 million on social network advertising. The report further says that by 2012, there will be a 500 percent increase in the business to business marketing through social networking sites, which is expected to grow to $210 million. This means raking in big bucks for the Social Networking industry at large, which has many strong contenders even today.

Social networking websites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, E.Factor and FohBohare are already seeing a steep rise in the B2B marketing scenario. The popularity of LinkedIn has already increased to double in the past year, which implies that it is bracing up to devour a sizeable amount of the market share in the B2B marketing spend. At the same time, Facebook has also witnessed the joining of more and more business peoplewhich also enhances its B2B marketing prospects.

However, the question which instantly comes up in many of our minds, is that will B2B marketing through these channels prove effective? Someone has rightly said that it will, provided it is used in an effective manner. However, it still lefts to be seen how well it would be accepted by one and all.

Yahoo discontinued the Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool

Here’s some bad news for all the SEO and SEM specialists. The Yahoo Keyword Suggestion Tool has been officially discontinued by the IT giant, Yahoo. This news has created waves in the entire SEM industry, which heavily depended on the tool for their keyword searches.

Even those of us, who criticised the tool for its lack of accuracy, have now realised its value in shaping the industry. Earlier known as the Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool and later christened as the Yahoo Inventory Tool (YIT), the application helped the users to find out about the number of times a particular keyword was searched for in the Yahoo network in the course of the past one month. Also, almost one hundred synonyms of the keyword searched were also provided with the search. And the process moved forward, where clicking on any of these derivatives or synonyms also offered another set of hundred or less derivatives to the user.

So, by searching in the free to use tool, in a matter of minutes, you would have access to all the details of specific keywords. In this way, you could easily track the changing tastes of customers, find out about queries or even find out the impact that media campaigns have on people, and also do a host of other things alongside.

For most of us, not having the tool to use anymore will be a huge setback, as it was Yahoo which pioneered in the technology of keyword search. Although there are more dependable keyword search tools available in the market now, you need to login to them with your unique User ID and Password. However, for all SEO specialists and experts, it will be great loss. And, if you happen to open up the Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool, as a matter of habit, you would instead be redirected to the Yahoo Search Marketing landing page instead of the tool!
